Personal Question

Shirky Chapter 3: You have an important personal question you’d like answered. Explain the procedure for getting your question answered and why this method appeals to you (you don’t need to get specific, but let’s assume the answer does not require specific expert knowledge, as from a doctor).

First off, to obtain an answer to a personal question, I would contact people I'm very close with and that I trust. Depending on what the question that I need to get answered is, I would either ask my close friends or my parents. Since the question is important and personal to me, I'd feel most comfortable discussing the personal matter face to face. I think by seeking advice face to face I would be able to get a more honest and respectable answer.

  1. I agree on all counts with what Nicholas says about finding the answer to a personal question. I pretty much wrote the same thing in my blog but left out one important thing - face to face. I forgot to mention how important the face to face part of this is. First, you want the answer from someone you know you can trust. But secondly, as Nicholas said, meeting face to face is key to being able to trust the answer you receive and feeling comfortable with the situation as a whole.

  2. Daniel, Nicholas, I'm glad you guys agree and still think of the "option" of talking to folks face to face.

But to go further - what if this was a question you weren't comfortable sharing with your friends? Would any online forums appeal towards finding answers?
